eTruckTCO as an app

Put the calculators and the sheets on your home screen. It opens full-screen like any app, with no app store, nothing to download and nothing to update: you always get the latest version.

iPhone and iPad

Works, through Safari's share menu

  1. Open etrucktco.eu in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button: the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom of the screen (on iPad: at the top).
  3. Scroll the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add. The eTruckTCO icon is now on your home screen.

Since iOS 16.4 the same Add to Home Screen is also in Chrome, Edge and Firefox on iPhone. Apple offers no install button of its own, so on an iPhone the green button above shows you these steps rather than a dialog. If you do not see "Add to Home Screen", you are probably inside another app's browser (LinkedIn, Mail, Teams): tap "Open in Safari" first.

One tap, in Chrome, Edge or Samsung Internet

  1. Tap the green Install the app button above.
  2. Confirm Install in the dialog your browser shows.

No button in your browser? Open the browser menu (the three dots) and choose Install app or Add to Home screen.

💻 Windows and Mac

  1. Tap the green button above, or click the small install icon at the right end of the address bar.
  2. Confirm Install. eTruckTCO opens in its own window and appears in your Start menu or Dock.

Safari on Mac: File → Add to Dock. Firefox has no install option; use it as a website.

🗑️ Removing it

Like any app

  1. iPhone: hold the icon, Remove App.
  2. Android: hold the icon, Uninstall.
  3. Desktop: open the app, menu, Uninstall eTruckTCO.

Nothing else is left behind: the app is this website, and the site keeps nothing about you.

What you get, plainly

iPhone compatibility
Yes, fully. Every calculator, the head-to-head and the sheets work on iPhone and iPad, in Safari and in the other browsers. The only difference from Android is how you install: through the share menu, not a button, because Apple does not offer one.
Internet
Needed. The app is the website in its own window; the figures come from the site, so it wants a connection. Without one you see a short message instead of an error page.
Updates
Automatic. There is no version to install: opening the app opens the current site.
Space and permissions
Next to nothing. The icon and a few kilobytes. It asks for no permissions and sends no notifications.
Your data
Stays on your phone. What you type in the calculators never leaves your device; the country you choose is remembered in your browser only. A change you save on a sheet is the one exception, and that goes only after you confirm it by e-mail.
App store
None. eTruckTCO is not in the App Store or on Google Play, and it does not need to be: a web app installs straight from the site.
